July 4th Parade Instructions

We're very excited to participate in Monday's Brookfield Independence Day Parade!  Here are a few final instructions ...

The City of Brookfield's Independence Day Parade
Monday, July 4th
Parade start at 10:00 am

What to Wear
  • Junior Lancer Cheer spiritwear tshirt
  • Black or white shorts
  • Cheer shoes or closed-toe athletic shoes and no-show white socks.
  • Hair should be up in a high center ponytail, and the official JLC cheer bow should be worn.
  • Bring your poms!
Drop-off Details
  • Brookfield Central High School
  • JLC’s parade number 56, and our area will be marked with pink colored flags.
  • Please report to our designated area at 9:15 am. No adult supervision will be provided prior to 9:15 am. The parade kicks off at 10:00 am.
  • Entrance will only be allowed from Gebhardt Road! Enter the EAST drive to Brookfield Central on Gebhardt Road, and utilize the driveway in front of the school (staff will be on site to direct you). Please drive slowly for everyone’s safety! Those dropping off participants must then exit out the west drive of the school.
  • Parade organizers request that elementary school aged children are escorted by a parent to our reporting area.
Pick-up Details
  • Please meet us on the grassy area in front of the Brookfield Post Office at the end of the parade. 
  • Elementary school cheerleaders must be picked up at the post office by a parent. Middle school cheerleaders will be allowed to leave to find their parents at the end of the parade, unless I am otherwise notified.
Parking Information
  • Parking for participants is available in the Library, City Hall, Safety Building and St. John Vianney parking lots.
  • Additional parking is also available at Ruby Isle Shopping Center.
Parade Route Information
  • The parade will begin at BCHS, travel west on Gebhardt Road to Calhoun Road, then north on Calhoun to North Avenue, and west on North Avenue to Norhardt – approximately 1.5 miles.
Volunteer Request
  • A few cheer moms or dads are requested to walk in the parade with us. We’ll have a cooler on wheels with spray bottles that needs to be pulled along with us, and we’ll periodically spritz the girls will cold water to keep them cool.
  • One cheer mom or dad is needed to pick up a cooler filled with water bottles and popsicles from me at BCHS prior to the parade start, then brought to us at the end of the parade.
  • If you take photos of us during the parade, please email them to me when you get home!  I’ll post them on our website, and include them in our slideshow at the end of the season awards banquet.

General Information
  • Traffic on Calhoun Road will close promptly at 9:30am
  • The access road behind BCHS football stadium is closed. 
  • If there is inclement weather on the day of the parade, call the Recreation Newsline at 414-297-9565 for the status of the parade. In the event of a downpour or lightening while the parade is in progress, the coaches will exit the parade route with the cheerleaders as quickly as possible, and Coach Uhrle will send a group text informing parents of our new pick-up location.
  • There will be no stunting or tumbling allowed during the parade.
Fun Activities for Your Family After the Parade
  • An ice cream social, lemonade and ceremony will immediately follow the parade in the Civic Plaza next to City Hall.
  • Family Fest begins at 6pm at Mitchell Park, and fireworks begin at 9:15pm
