Weekly Newsletter - November 2011, Vol 1

Coming up this week ....
Monday, October 31st
  • Happy Halloween!  Have fun and be safe trick-or-treating!

Wednesday, November 2nd
  • Practice will be held at Swanson Elementary, 305 N. Calhoun Road. Park in the front parking lot near the flagpoles and enter through the main entrance. Walk past the office and hallway on your right, and enter the gym just past the trophy case on your right (before the green Adirondack chairs).
  • 2nd - 4th Grade and 7th Grade: 6 - 7pm
  • 5th - 6th Grade and 8th Grade: 7 - 8:30pm
  • As there will be no cheer mats, there will be no stunting or tumbling permitted.  Girls may bring yoga mats for stretching and conditioning if they wish.
 Important Announcements ...

  • I will be placing my final order for cheer bows for the season.
  • Bows are $7.00 each, and checks must be made payable to Junior Lancer Cheer.
  • Orders and payments must be received at practice on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd - NO EXCEPTIONS!  I need to place the order asap so the cheer bows arrive in time for our first competition.
  • If you miss this deadline, you will need to contact the vendor to order the cheer bows on your own.  Please be aware that you will need to purchase 6 bows to meet the minimum ordering requirement.
  • If you are missing or are in need of any uniform pieces (shell, skirt, bodyliner, briefs, shoes, cheer bow), please contact me asap!
  • 2nd - 4th grade parents - please ensure your daughter has the V-NECK bodyliner, not the mock turtleneck bodyliner worn last year.
  • JLC has a "no-borrow" uniform policy.  This means that if your daughter arrives at competition and is missing uniform pieces, she CANNOT borrow them from another cheerleader.  This is for health & sanitary reasons.  Please be aware that cheerleaders may also be prohibited from competing if she is not in full uniform.
  • Please contact me with any questions.

  • If you have forgotten anything at practice, the coaches and I have been placing the items in the WHMS lost and found located in the southwest corner of the cafeteria.
  • The school is open after school until 9pm each school day if you need to look for something left behind.
  • Thank you coaches for giving up your Saturdays to be with your team - your gift of time and mentoring with your team is a blessing!
  • Thank you parents for altering your family Saturday schedules to get your daughters to and from the games!  Thank you also to those brave parents for sticking it out for the games, giving JLC our very own cheering section!  JLC wouldn't be able to exist without your cooperation and support!
  • Thank you cheerleaders for showing up on time, with smiles on your faces and spirit in your attitude!  You truly helped tip the momentum at crucial points in the games, and your showmanship, good sportsmanship and Lancer Pride is second to none!
  • Thank you Team Managers for showing up each Saturday to run the music for your daughter's team's half-time performance. The girls loved performing their routines on the field, and they gained valuable showmanship and performance experience.
  • Thank you Mrs. Weltcheff, Mrs. Zembinski, Mrs. Stricker, Mrs. Olier, Mrs. Ferman, and Mr. Romant for carpooling girls to the play-off games over the past 2 weekends!  The girls did a fantastic job representing JLC and the City of Brookfield at the away games and had alot of fun.
  • Be sure to check out our media gallery of over 300 photos taken over the course of the football season this year.  There are many individual and group action shots.  You can view the gallery here.
  • The NBA season may be postponed, but the Junior Lancer Basketball program is gearing up for another exciting season of youth basketball!
  • JLC will tentatively cheer for the Junior Lancer Girls (JLGB) and Boys (JLBB) basketball teams at select home games and tournaments.
  • Please hold the weekend of January 28th - 29th, 2012 for the JLBB Hoop It Up tournament at BCHS.  The tournament will be a FULL DAY commitment per team (either Saturday or Sunday).  Specific times will be shared closer to the event date.
  • 2nd - 4th grade will cheer for 4th grade; 5th grade will cheer for 5th grade; 6th grade will cheer for 6th grade; 7th grade will cheer for 7th grade; and 8th grade will cheer for 8th grade.
  • More information will be shared as it becomes available.
