Weekly Newsletter: November 2011, Vol 3

Coming up this week ...

Monday, November 14th

  • 2nd - 4th and 7th Grade:  5:30 - 7pm

Wednesday, November 16th
  • 2nd - 4th Grade and 7th Grade: 5:30 - 7pm

  • Please submit one check payable to JLC for each fundraiser.

Friday, November 17th
  • 6 - 7:30 PM, Panera - Ruby Isle (2095 N. Calhoun Road)
  • Cheerleaders will sit in private community room, parents and siblings will sit in main dining area.
  • Individuals are responsible for purchasing their own meals; be sure to tell the cashier you're with Junior Lancer Cheer.  We must meet a minimum in sales to receive free rental for the private community room.
  • Cheerleaders will also make a craft at the carbo cram (a Star spirit stick) for their parents to hold during their competition performance.  $5 materials fee due to Coach Uhrle at practice on Wednesday - no exceptions!  I will not have any extra craft supplies with me at the carbo cram.

Saturday, November 18th
  • Plan to arrive at MFHS at 8am for registration.  Competition begins promptly at 9am - performance line-up is anticipated to be released by MFHS on Wednesday, and I hope to share this info with all JLC families at practice on Wednesday night.
  • Spectator admission is $5, CASH ONLY!
  • Cheerleaders must arrive to the competition fully dressed from head-to-toe.  Team Managers will be on hand to check for dress code violations (nail polish, bobby pins, make-up, etc).
  • Cheerleaders are welcome to leave after their performance is complete.  Cheerleaders that stay to watch the rest of the competition and stay for the awards ceremony MUST stay in full JLC dress code uniform the entire time they are at the Indian Invite.
  • After the Awards Ceremony, we will have all teams gather in a hallway for team pictures and a large JLC group photo.
  • This competition does not hand out individual trophies or medals.  All trophies will come home with Coach Uhrle for future display at each JLC school.
  • All cheerleaders and parents are encouraged to review the WIAA's Fundamentals of Sportsmanship found here

Save the Date ...

Saturday, November 26th
  • All cheerleaders are invited to ring bells for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign!  This is a great opportunity for JLC to make a difference in our community during the holiday season!
  • We will ring bells from Noon - 3pm.  Sign up for 1 or 2 hour shifts.  All grades are invited to participate.
  • We'll be at Brookfield Square, near Santa Claus and JC Penney.
  • RSVP your time (12 - 1pm, 1 - 2pm, 2 - 3pm) to Coach Uhrle.  Make it fun by signing up for shifts with your teammates! We'll take up to 10 cheerleaders per shift.
  • Girls will wear their JLC uniform, and can accessorize with Santa hats!  Poms are not needed.
  • All participants will receive community service hours and recognition at our end of the season banquet. 

Important Announcements ...

JLC Challenge
  • Our grand prize is up to $65!
  • Grand prize drawing will take place on Wednesday, November 16th at 6:55pm!  Good luck to all entered into the drawing!
Fundraising Opportunities
  • Marcus Theatres Movie Tickets - Participating families earn 10% profit on their total amount sold.  Orders and payment due to Coach Uhrle at practice on Wednesday, November 16th - NO EXCEPTIONS!  Families that submit at least $200 in orders can earn free movie tickets!  Tickets will be distributed at practice on Monday, November 28th.
  • Stone Creek Coffee - Participating families earn $2.50 per 1lb bag of coffee sold and $1.50 per tin of hot cocoa sold.  Be sure to let families and friends know JLC will offer our very own exclusive custom blend of coffee - the coffee label will be printed with our JLC logo!  Makes a great holiday gift for the coffee lovers in your life!  Orders and payment due to Coach Uhrle at practice on Wednesday, November 16th - NO EXCEPTIONS!  Coffee will be distributed at practice on Monday, December 5th.
  • Contact me if you'd like an order form for either fundraiser.  Profits earned can be used to pay for winter tumbling classes, or to pay for your family's tickets to our end of the season banquet!
NEW Winter Tumbling at Heat Athletics
November 19th, 2011 - February 18th, 2012
  • Beginner Level - Tuesdays from 5 - 6pm.  $6 per class, $76 total.  Download registration form here.
  • Intermediate Level - Tuesdays from 6:30 - 7:30pm.  $10 per class, $120 total.  Must have back handspring with light spot.  Download the registration form here.
  • Please mail payment and registration form directly to Gary Joers at Heat Athletics (address is listed on registration form).

Fleece "Boa" Scarves
  • The 5th & 6th grade team made blue, black and zebra fleece "boa" scarves at a recent team social.  We had enough material leftover for 4 scarves. 
  • If you'd like one of the scarves, you can purchase them for $5 directly from Coach Uhrle.  Email me to reserve your scarf, and send payment in to practice on Monday.

Sending Payments to Practice
  • If paying with cash, please put the cash in an envelope with your daughter's name and purpose of the payment clearly written on the envelope.
