Coming up this week ...

Monday, December 12th
Cheer Practice
  • 2nd - 4th and 7th Grade: 5:30 - 7pm
  • 5th - 6th and 8th Grade: 6:30 - 8pm
  • Mat Set-Up Crew: Katrina S and Marisa - 3 MORE FAMILIES NEEDED! Reminder, mat set-up crew duties involve arriving at 5:10 pm to move the mats from the gym to the cafeteria. ALL cheerleaders are asked to roll-out the mats in the cafeteria when they arrive to practice.
  • Mat Clean-Up Crew: Riley & Emily - 3 MORE FAMILIES NEEDED! Reminder, mat clean-up crew duties involve staying after practice to move the mats from the cafeteria to the gym. ALL cheerleaders are asked to roll-up the mats at the end of practice.

Saturday, December 17th
Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Brookfield Square
  • 12 - 1pm: 2nd - 6th Grade
  • 1 - 2pm: 7th Grade
  • 2 - 3pm: 8th Grade
  • All cheerleaders must wear their JLC uniform (shell, skirt, bodyliner, briefs, no-show white socks, and cheer shoes) and have their hair up in a ponytail with the JLC bow or wear a Santa hat. Please bring your own bell!
  • Meet us at the mall entrance to JC Penney near Starbucks at the start of your shift.
  • This is an optional opportunity for cheerleaders to earn community service hours, and help families in need this holiday season!

Important Announcements ...


Secret Santa
  • Each cheerleader was given a Secret Santa form at practice last week to fill out indicating her "wish list" for the Secret Santa gift exchange. Forms must be signed by parents acknowledging that they will be required to purchase a $10 gift for the gift exchange. Secret Santa forms are due to Coach Uhrle tomorrow, Monday, December 12th - no exceptions!
  • Participants will receive their Secret Santa recipient's wish list at practice on Wednesday, December 14th. Bring the wrapped gift to the holiday party on December 21st.

Photo Button Retake Day
  • Our photo button retake day will be this Wednesday, December 14th during each team's warm-up.
  • Photo buttons are 2 for $10 and will make great stocking stuffers or gifts for grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc!
  • If you would like to order a set of photo buttons of your daughter, please have her come to practice wearing her bodyliner and shell, and hair either all up or 1/2 up with the JLC cheer bow. Skirts are not needed as the photo is taken from the waist up. Bring an extra tshirt to change back into for practice after your photo has been taken.

2nd - 4th and 7th grade Holiday Party
  • The 2nd - 4th and 7th grade holiday party will be held on Wednesday, December 21st from 6:30 - 7pm.
  • Thank you to the following parents for volunteering to help at the party: Mrs. Crow and Mrs. Mulcahy. 2 - 3 additional volunteers are appreciated!
  • Each family is asked to bring one dozen cookies that will be arranged into cookie platters for the WHMS custodial staff.
  • Thank you to the following families for donating the following food items for the party ... Isabella S - cupcakes; Isabella H and Marisa - chips/pretzels; Dana - chips/pretzels; Eva, Isabella H, Vika and Nina - beverages.
  • We are still in need of the following food items: paper goods, chips/pretzels (1 family), baked treats (4 families), and fruit (3 families).

5th - 6th and 8th grade Holiday Party
  • The 5th - 6th and 8th grade holiday party will be held on Wednesday, December 21st from 8 - 8:30pm.
  • Thank you to the following parents for volunteering to help at the party: Mrs. Lambert, Mrs. Jellison, Mrs. Retzlaff, Mrs. Neis, and Mrs. Stricker.
  • Each family is asked to bring one dozen cookies that will be arranged into cookie platters for the WHMS custodial staff.
  • Thank you to the following families for donating the following food items for the party ... Hannah H - 18 cupcakes; Emily and Molly - chips/pretzels; Riley and Jaida - baked treat; Meghan - beverages.
  • We are still in need of the following food items: paper goods, 18 cupcakes, chips/pretzels (2 families), baked treats (2 families), fruit (3 families), beverages (3 families).

Individual Stunt Groups for the Brookfield Blast Cheer Competition
  • 5th - 8th graders will be permitted to form individual stunt groups to compete at the Brookfield Blast on February 4th. 
  • In order to compete wearing the JLC uniform, stunt groups must receive permission from their team coach and permission from Coach Uhrle to compete. Parents must also sign a waiver releasing JLC from all liability, accidents and injuries that may arise in the practice and performance of the individual stunt routine.
  • Choreography, music and registration fees are the responsibility of the stunt group, and practice time is also the responsibility of the stunt group. JLC practice time will not be used for individual stunt group practice.
  • Each stunt group will need to perform their routine for Coach Uhrle on Wednesday, January 18th for final approval. 
  • Registration fees for stunt groups in the amount of $60 must be paid to Coach Uhrle no later than January 18th, 2012 - NO EXCEPTIONS!

BC Cheer Tumbling
  • BC Cheer Tumbling will resume on Tuesday, January 10th, time TBD.
  • The fall session was $75 for 8 weeks of tumbling, and we can anticipate the winter session to be the same.
  • For planning purposes, please email me if your daughter will participate with the BC cheer tumbling classes.

Team Tumbling Classes at Heat Athletics
  • Winter session is ongoing now through February 18th on Tuesdays. The Spring session is anticipated to begin the week of February 19th.
  • Beginner level is $6 per class, Intermediate level is $10 per class. There is room still available in both levels.
  • Families that are unable to fit tumbling on Tuesdays can also sign up for Heat's regular Beginner or Intermediate classes held on Saturdays. Note however that the JLC team discounted price only applies to our specific team tumbling classes held on Tuesdays.
