Important announcements ...

Installment Payments
  • It is the responsibility of each family signed up for the JLC installment payment plan to pay their installments in a timely manner.  Prompt payments ensures JLC is able to provide the level of service promised to all families, and also keeps JLC in good standing with our vendors and partners.
  • JLC policy states that any cheerleader whose account is overdue will not be permitted to participate in any JLC activities until their account is in good standing.   Due to the high number of families with overdue June & July payments, I will begin to enforce this rule immediately.  Payments must be received at the start of practice or your athlete will not be permitted to participate.

Choreography - What to Expect & Carpools
  • Our full competition routine will be taught during our 3 days of choreography at Heat Athletics.
  • A team and individual evaluation will take place on Day 1 of Choreography to include motions, jumps, standing and running tumbling, dance, stunting and showmanship.  Placement of each athlete within choreography (center, front line, side, etc) is 100% at the choreographer's and Head Coach's discretion, and decisions are made to give the team its best opportunity for success.
  • JLC does not accept any parental input regarding the placement of any athlete in choreography or stunt groups.  Placement can be changed without notice to parents, for reasons including but not limited to safety, absences, attitude, effort, behavior, etc.
  • If you'd like to form a carpool for choreography, please email me no later than Tuesday, July 31st.  I will send out an email on Wednesday morning to these families so you can contact each other to schedule your carpool.

Dress Code for Summer Practices - Reminder
  • All jewelry is prohibited during participation.  This is mandated by the NFHS and AACCA Spirit Rules, and JLC's insurance company.  No piercings, earrings, bracelets, rings, anklets, or necklaces of any sort.  Spacers or fishing line to keep the earring hole open and bandaids covering earrings are not permitted.  Ponytail holders and handcrafted friendship bracelets worn on wrists or ankles are considered bracelets, and must be removed.  "No jewelry" means NO JEWELRY.
  • For the summer - athletes must wear closed toe athletic shoes - no sandals or flip flops are allowed.  Athletes with the role of Flyer in a stunt group must wear cheer shoes for stunt progressions or they will not be permitted to fly.
  • Modest shorts, dance shorts or tumbling shorts are best.  No jeans, dresses or skirts.
  • T-shirts or modest tank tops.
  • Hair must be pulled back into a high straight ponytail.
  • No gum or food is allowed during practice, but girls can snack before/after practice and during water breaks (no huge meals please - just a light, quick and easy to eat snack that can be eaten in 1 - 2 minutes).
  • No acrylic nails, sparkles or anything that can fall off and potentially harm another cheerleader.  Nails must be trimmed short so that when looking at the palm of the cheerleader’s hand, you do not see the nails.
  • JLC reserves the right to prohibit an athlete from participating in practices if she is in violation of the Dress Code policy.
  • Athletes that arrive to practice in violation of the Dress Code policy will face consequences of 10 push-ups per violation.  Consequences increase per repeated violation.  I will begin to enforce this policy immediately.

Competition Schedule

All JLC teams are confirmed for the following four competitions this season:
  1. Menomonee Falls Indian Invite on November 17th at Menomonee Falls High School
  2. Bring on the Heat on January 6th at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School
  3. Brookfield Blast on February 2nd at Brookfield Central High School
  4. KMLHS Cheer Competition on February 9th at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School
  • If you have a family vacation scheduled over any of these dates, please let Coach Uhrle know ASAP, but no later than 4 full practice weeks prior to the competition so the team can address any changes to choreography needed to accommodate your daughter's absence.  Otherwise, please do not make any plans over these dates.
  • Middle School athletes - the Brookfield Blast has historically conflicted with the WHMS Musical Revue in regards to practices and the actual competition & performance.  We will do our best to accommodate athletes wishing to participate in the Musical, however please remember that JLC must remain your first priority.
In addition to the above competitions, the Blue Team may add more competitions - Blue Team members, please check your email for more information.

Sideline Cheers
  • An online video gallery of all of JLC's sideline cheers is available for athletes to log-into at home to practice their sideline cheers.
  • Athletes will perform approximately 10 cheers per quarter - the more cheers they learn, the less cheers they'll have to repeat over and over during a game :)
  • Email Coach Uhrle for access to the online video gallery.

Online Media Gallery
  • New photos have been posted to our online media gallery for your viewing enjoyment.
  • You can share photos with your family and friends directly from our online media gallery directly to Facebook!

Volunteers Needed
  • Competition Photographers & Videographers:  We are in need of several parents to take action photos and videos of our performances at competitions.  The photos and videos will not only give each family lasting memories of their team's performance and be used in our end of the season slideshow, but will also be reviewed by the coaches and team along with the judges' scoresheets after competition, so we can constantly improve and better our performances and skills.
  • JLC Cheer Clinic:  We are in need of several parents to join our Cheer Clinic committee.  We will host our first ever "for-profit" cheer clinic for Kindergarten to 5th grade girls the week of January 28th, 2013.   Clinic participants will learn a cheer and dance, and perform it as an exhibition team at the Brookfield Blast on February 2nd.  Adult volunteers will be needed to coordinate the craft, food & beverages, registration check-in, and t-shirt distribution.  Athlete volunteers of middle school age will be needed as "Mini Coaches" for the clinic.  Athlete volunteers will be required to attend 2 - 3 additional practices in January in preparation of the cheer clinic.  Funds raised at the clinic will help to pay for gym and mat storage space for the 2013 - 2014 cheer season.
  • Contact Coach Uhrle if you'd like to volunteer!
