Weekly Newsletter: March 2014, Vol 4

Coming Up This Week  

Thursday, March 27th
  • Spring Team Tumbling, Session 1, Class 2 of 4
    • Beginner/Intermediate - 6:15 - 7:30
      • Confirmed:  Addison, Ainsley, Avery, Breanne, Brianna (start 5/1), Brooke, Chelsea, Emily, Eva (start 5/1), Gabriella, Jada, Jenna, Katrina (start 5/1), Katy (start 5/1), Payton, Pickles.
      • All athletes to arrive no later than 6:15 for mat set up.  Middle school athletes to move mats from gym to cafeteria, elementary students to unroll mats and put velcro on.  We will use all 9 mats. 
      • Our beginner/intermediate class is FULL!
    • Advanced - 7:15 - 8:45
      • Confirmed: Ana, Mackenzie, Mara, Marisa, Meghan, Melanie, Mia, Molly, Reagan, Yasi
      • All athletes to arrive no later than 7:15 to start warming up IN THE HALLWAY.  Keep noise level down.
      • All athletes to stay after class to assist with putting the mats away (rolling them up AND moving them into the gym).  If you leave without helping, you will be assessed a $10 mat fee.
      • We can accommodate up to 2 more students in this class.  Email for more information.
  • Pure Performance, Life of a Student Athlete
    • Complimentary presentation offered by Brookfield Central Athletics.
    • It will be held in the cafeteria at 6:30pm.
    • All incoming BC athlete families are invited to attend this event - please see this link for more information.

Important Announcements 

WHMS Run for the Hills - Run with the JLC Team!
  • Due to popular demand, we will once again form a team for the 2014 WHMS Run for the Hills. 
  • Complete and download the registration form here, and include your $12 registration fee payable to WHMS PTO, and return to Coach Uhrle at this week's tumbling class or drop off at her house no later than Thursday, March 27th.  This is a firm deadline to ensure we all receive a t-shirt!  We will need 10 runners to form a team (Meghan and I will be running - we just need 8 more runners - or walkers!)
  • List Junior Lancer Cheer as the team and Coach Uhrle as the team captain.
  • Our theme for this year's run will be Neon Lights, so we ask all team runners to wear a neon colored t-shirt.

Save the Date - WHMS Run for the Hills
  • If you aren't a run/walker, then you can cheer at Run for the Hills!
  • JLC has once again been invited to cheer on the runners at the 4th Annual WHMS Run for the Hills on Saturday, April 27th at Mitchell Park.
  • This is an optional event - the time commitment is 11am until 2pm.
  • Cheerleaders will cheer on the runners at the starting line, and at the various locations of the running route.
  • If you are interested, please email Coach Uhrle no later than April 20th.

2014-15 Parent Informational Meeting
  • Thursday, May 8th at 7pm at Wisconsin Hills Middle School.
  • Interested athletes and parents will have an opportunity to meet our coaching staff and to discover all that our program offers to the youth of Elmbrook School District.
  • New this season - uniform rentals are included in our tuition fees for all athletes!  We also have a brand new uniform for the 14-15 cheer season!
  • Uniforms will be fitted at this meeting - please bring your cheerleader with you!
  • We will also kick off two popular fundraisers at this event to help you with your tuition fees - a Thirty-One fundraiser and a Scentsy fundraiser!

2014-15 Try-Outs
  • Try-outs for incoming 6th grade and older athletes will be held the week of May 19th.
  • We will host a 3 day try-out clinic from 6 - 7:30pm on May 19th, 20th, and 21st.  Interested athletes must attend at least one clinic, but attending all three clinics is highly encouraged.  There is no fee to try-out for a JLC competitive team.  You will learn a specific cheer and dance to perform during try-outs, as well as receive instruction on motions, jumps and stunting.
  • Try-outs will be held on May 22nd.   Try-outs are closed, and athletes will try out in small groups of 4 - 5 athletes.  
  • Results will be posted on the JLC website on Friday, May 23rd at 6pm.  Final scores are not shared, however judges comments are available upon request.

Save the Date - UCA Day Camp @ Badger High School
  • All 2014-15 registered cheerleaders 5th grade and older are invited to attend a UCA Cheer Camp at Badger High School in Lake Geneva on Saturday, June 7th.
  • Camp and bus fees will be included in your JLC 2014-15 registration fee.  
  • Cheerleaders will get a head start on their season and learn their football halftime cheer and dance at camp!  We hope you can make it!

    Save the Date - Mandatory Competitive Team Stunt Camp

    • All 2014-15 competitive team members will be required to attend a mandatory stunt camp on July 7 - 10th.  
    • We will form carpools to share the rides each day.
    • More information will be shared at our parent information meeting on May 8th.

    Summer Cheer Schedule - Family Vacations, etc.
    • If you're starting to look ahead to your summer family vacation schedule, a good time to book your family vacation without worry of missing summer camp, choreography, etc is July 20 - August 10th.

    Save the Date - Annual Team Bonding at Six Flags Great America!
    • Friday, June 27th
    • We will need drivers and chaperones (athletes 5th grade and younger will need a chaperone with them at all times at the park).
    • More details will be forthcoming in early June.
