Important Announcements

Stunting
  • Our motto in all we do is Perfection Before Progression.  All girls are taught stunting in a very progressive manner, and all lower level skills must be perfected before the next skill level is taught.  JLC imposes specific stunting limitations based upon the grade level of the team.  We specifically limit stunt skills per team to keep the girls safe.  There is no guarantee that any stunt group will stunt at the highest level skill that is allowed for their grade level - once again, the key is keeping everyone safe, and lower level skills MUST be perfected before a stunt group is permitted to advance.
  • Select football squads that showed great self-control and listening abilities at practice last week will begin stunting this week.  Girls that are selected as Top Girls will have 2 weeks to purchase cheer shoes - they will need to wear them during the stunting portion of cheer practice.  They can wear normal athletic shoes during all other portions of practice.  They will be able to stunt at lower level skills during the two week period of ordering/purchasing cheer shoes.
  • If your daughter's squad does not stunt this week, I'm sure she will be disappointed!  Her Jr Coaches and I will be disappointed as well!  The reason why I require great self-control and listening abilities prior to stunting is one of safety.  If a team cannot follow simple directions and exert self-control (no talking while the coach is talking, being serious during instruction time, showing respect to their teammates, keeping their hands to themselves, etc) with TWO feet on the ground, my expectation of them listening and showing self-control while literally holding someone's life in their hands is nil to none.
  • I will hold a quick Q&A for parents regarding Stunting on Tuesday & Thursday from 5:30 - 5:45 - feel free to choose which date works best for your schedule.
  • Please see the Stunting section of our Cheerleading Constitution for more details and specific skill level limits.

Cheer Shoes
  • ALL football spirit squad team members are expected to own cheer shoes by September 2nd as we will take football spirit squad team and individual photos that afternoon (time & location TBD).
  • ALL competition team members are expected to own cheer shoes by our first day of choreography, Tuesday, August 12th.  You will not participate in choreography if you do not have cheer shoes!  No exceptions!  Please plan accordingly, especially if ordering shoes online or through a catalog.
  • If you did not order cheer shoes through JLC, women's size cheer shoes can be purchased at Burghardt Sporting Goods on Capitol Drive.  I am not aware of any local store that offers youth sized cheer shoes - in this circumstance, any all white athletic shoe is permitted.
  • All competition cheerleaders and serious tumblers are encouraged to purchase NFINITY cheer shoes.  Competition top girls are required to own either the NFINITY Vengeance or Evolution shoe.
  • Competition cheerleaders will have an opportunity to try-on and order NFINITY's at Heat Athletics during our Stunt Camp on June 8th - 11th.  Ordering NFINITY's through Heat Athletics gives you a 10% MSRP discount AND free shipping!
  • Please note - the NFINITY Vengeance cheer shoe, my personal favorite and shoe that I consider to be the #1 cheer shoe out there, is a strictly indoor cheer shoe and should not be worn outside.  They come with a carrying case because the manufacturer expects them to be carried in and put on once inside a gym, and not to be worn outside.  Competition girls that purchase the Vengeance should wear a different cheer shoe for football season (outdoor practices & games).

Save the Date - City of Brookfield Independence Day Parade
  • Friday, July 4th!  Approximately 9am - 10:30/11am.  Exact arrival times and meeting location will be confirmed one week prior to the parade.
  • All cheerleaders are invited to march with us!

Mandatory Stunt Camp for Sapphire and Titanium
  • July 8 - 11th from 1 - 4pm each day at Heat Athletics in Sussex.
  • $85 payable to Heat Athletics is due on the first camp day.
  • This camp is mandatory for all competitive team members.  We will be stunting in your official competition stunt groups and if you are absent, you may not be placed into a stunt group for choreography.
  • We will have a specific dress code for each camp day.  Specific color t-shirts that will be worn are pink, blue, green, and red.  Black shorts will be worn each day.  What color to wear on each day will be shared in the July 6th newsletter.
  • Please utilize your team rosters to set up carpools :)
  • Competitive team members will not need to report for football cheer practice on July 8th and 10th.  You are encouraged to stay home and rest up!

Absences
  • Please communicate via email all planned vacations that may conflict with cheer at your earliest convenience.  Known absences are posted on our master calendar found here.  This is your way of confirming that Coach is aware of your upcoming absence.
  • Advance notice of absences is required and greatly appreciated so that coaches can plan practices accordingly.

Cheer Resources
  • We have some great cheer resources on our website for cheerleaders and their parents.  They are posted in the Cheer Corner and Parent Corner sections of our website on the mid-lower right column.
